Handelsblatt: Ruhr Region Can Assume a Leading Role<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

In its edition of February 18, 2021, the\nHandelsblatt reports on the efforts of former coal regions to achieve economic\nsuccess in the field of hydrogen technologies. In addition to the example\nof the hydrogen research center that Siemens intends to establish in G\u00f6rlitz,\nthe Hydrogen Laboratory Ruhr is particularly highlighted. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia\nhas incorporated this project of h2-netzwerk-ruhr into its Hydrogen Roadmap.\n <\/p>\n\n

The Handelsblatt writes verbatim: “\u2026 according to a current study, the Ruhr region is\nvery well positioned to play a leading role in establishing the hydrogen economy\nin Germany.” Companies in the\nRuhr metropolitan area have many years of experience with the production, distribution,\nand application of hydrogen. With a length of 240 kilometers, this region has\nthe longest H2 pipeline network in the Federal Republic. And across all\nvalue creation stages of the hydrogen economy, companies here have been able to\naccumulate many years of experience. Furthermore, the Ruhr region has\nan excellent research infrastructure. All points that lead the author to the\nconviction that the Ruhr region can become a “specialist for\nindustrial applications” of hydrogen. <\/p>\n\n
