A key element is the\nestablishment of a regional and supra-regional H<sub>2<\/sub> community. This\nincludes activities such as founding the H<sub>2<\/sub> Unit, marketing\nthe hashtag <em>#H2Thinktank<\/em>, and\njoining h2-netzwerk-ruhr e.V. In the Ruhr-wide network, as the 50th member,\nEWG will now help shape the hydrogen future in the Metropole\nRuhr.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The year 2020 gave the topic of hydrogen\na tremendous boost across Germany and internationally.\nThe energy transition and climate action can only succeed with a massively increased use of\ngreen hydrogen. This insight has led to the fact that, alongside\ncompanies active in fuel cell and\nelectrolysis technology, research institutions, municipalities and\neconomic development organisations are also becoming involved in this field. According to\nstudies by the NRW Ministry of Economic Affairs, up to\n130,000 jobs are expected in North Rhine-Westphalia alone as part of implementing the state\u2019s H<sub>2<\/sub> roadmap\n.   \n\nThe strong public interest also gave h2-netzwerk-ruhr\ne.V. an additional boost. In 2020, the network gained a total of eight\nnew members \u2013 including EWG as the 50th member. The Chairman\nof h2-netzwerk-ruhr, Volker Lindner, therefore did not miss the opportunity\nto welcome EWG Managing Director Andre Boschem as a new member with a bouquet of flowers\n.  \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>On the way to the H<sub>2<\/sub> think tank<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Andre Boschem, joining h2-netzwerk-ruhr\nis another step on the way to making Essen the region\u2019s H<sub>2<\/sub> think tank:\n\u201cThe aim is to pool knowledge, actively connect the city\u2019s H<sub>2<\/sub> stakeholders\nand those of the Metropole Ruhr, and support projects. Because\nwith the companies and research institutions in Essen alone, a\ncomplete hydrogen ecosystem can be mapped. That holds great potential.\u201d  \n\nUsing the hashtag <em>#H2Thinktank<\/em>,\nall information can be brought together on the social media platform LinkedIn\n. This establishes a strong community to make the\nhydrogen era a reality in Essen and the region. \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>h2-netzwerk-ruhr e.V. and its members<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Volker Lindner is pleased about the reinforcement\nfrom Essen. \u201cMany large and important companies are based here that will play a major role in the\nhydrogen economy in the future,\u201d the\nChairman of h2-netzwerk-ruhr is convinced. Through EWG, he hopes for better\ncontacts with companies interested in exchanging views on fuel cells and electrolysers\nand their increased deployment in the German and European energy market\n.  \n\nOther Essen members of the network include: the Zollverein Foundation\n, Gas- und W\u00e4rme-Institut Essen e.V., Stadtwerke Essen AG,\nOpen Grid Europe GmbH, and Business\nMetropole Ruhr GmbH.
