The association grew since 2008 from seven members to currently over 40 and combines entrepreneurial, academic and public activities of the region in the field of hydrogen and fuel cell technology. The association supports its development via public information, educational activities, lobby work, and expert events. In addition, it represents the „Metropole Ruhr“ at technology-specific trade fairs.

Members are public bodies, companies, associations, educational and research institutions as well as individuals from the Ruhr valley region. The executive board, which conducts the business, is advised by an advisory committee. More about the association can be found in its statutes.
