International student group visits the h2herten User Center
In Focus: Energy Supply in Transition
The 75 students were informed in small groups about the h2-netzwerk-ruhr and the wind power electrolysis plant.
As part of the Comenius Programme of the European Union, an international group of approximately 75 students and teachers visited Herten on April 20, 2015. Student groups from Germany, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Turkey visited the h2herten User Center, as well as the adjacent colliery site and the Hoheward spoil tip.
Through these three stations, the transformation in energy supply could be impressively demonstrated: from the colliery as a symbol of the dawn of today’s energy-intensive era, to the view from the spoil tip of the various power plants and high-voltage lines, to the inspection of the energy complementary system as an example for the energy supply of the future.
Supported by excellent spring weather, the students were thus offered an entertaining yet educational day.
