First Meeting of the New "Policy Working Group"

Policy Working Group Convenes for the First Time

Extensive Information for Over Twenty Participants

Moderated by Brian Mohr, the new “Policy Working Group” of h2-netzwerk-ruhr e.V. convened online for the first time on March 11, 2026.

Brian Mohr welcomed over 20 participants. The main speaker of the session was Andreas Rimkus, former Member of the Bundestag and now active as a Hydrogen Ambassador. Among other topics, Rimkus presented his Contract for Differences model (CfD), which would make the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy plannable for all stakeholders. However, this requires state support, for which intensive advocacy is currently underway.

One of the participants was Jens Geier MEP, who has already agreed to provide input on the topic of European regulation at the next meeting of the working group. In his contribution, Geier emphasized that current regulations make green hydrogen unnecessarily expensive and urgently require revision.

The network’s Managing Director, Dr. Désirée Schulte, thanked the organizers and announced that the next meeting will take place in May or June.
