e:Motion presents sustainable mobility and green energy in the Recklinghausen district
Trade fair for environmentally friendly mobility on June 18 from 11 AM to 5 PM in Herten
For the eighth time, the free outdoor trade fair e:Motion presents interested visitors with trends and forms of new mobility. The organiser is the Recklinghausen district, which has positioned itself for the future with the “Masterplan Mobility 2050 Recklinghausen District” and the sustainability strategy for implementing the United Nations’ Agenda 2030. As part of the trade fair, the district presents current projects and measures for environmentally friendly mobility, sustainability and climate protection.
“As Germany’s most populous district, we want to take on a pioneering role and actively drive the mobility transition forward as a sustainable district. At e:Motion, we therefore want to take the opportunity to inform and bring people in the region along with us,” explains Peter Haumann, Head of Department for Environment, Transport, Geoinformation, Planning and Economic Affairs in the Recklinghausen district. In addition, the district will present the campaigns “Solar Metropolis Ruhr” and “Energy-Saving House Ruhr” as well as practical information and support services on the regioklima and regiofreizeit portals.
Strong partners for environmentally conscious mobility
The trade fair is supported by numerous cooperation partners who will provide information and offers on site on the topics of charging infrastructure, photovoltaics, transport transition in public transport, battery charging, bicycle coding and hydrogen mobility. These include: Hertener Stadtwerke, TÜV Rheinland, Vestische Straßenbahnen, ADFC Kreisverband Vest Recklinghausen e.V., Schulz PV, h2-Netzwerk-ruhr e.V., Anwenderzentrum h2herten and the hydrogen coordinators of WiN Emscher-Lippe GmbH.
Exhibition of current vehicles and bicycles
More than 20 regional exhibitors will present their range of environmentally friendly mobility, including e-bikes, e-scooters, e-cargo bikes, as well as a large selection of electric, hydrogen and hybrid vehicles. Experts will talk about the opportunities and limits of urban mobility, ways to make delivery traffic more sustainable, public transport and the expansion of the cycling network, as well as the importance of H2 mobility for climate protection.
Expert exchange: Contribution of hydrogen mobility to climate protection in the region
How important hydrogen mobility is for sustainable mobility in the district and which projects are currently being advanced can be learned by visitors in the expert talk on hydrogen mobility. Bodo Klimpel, District Administrator of the Recklinghausen district, Dr Uta Willim, Head of Economic Affairs of the Recklinghausen district, and Dr Babette Nieder, Hydrogen Coordinator at WiN Emscher-Lippe GmbH, will provide information about opportunities and challenges. Visitors to the trade fair will also have the opportunity to gain exclusive insights into the production, storage and reconversion of hydrogen into electricity at the Anwenderzentrum h2herten at Doncaster Platz. A free guided tour led by the Head of the Application Centre, Dieter Kwapis, shows how green electricity is produced and ends at the hydrogen filling station on Ewald with the live refuelling of an H2 car.
HyPerformer Rhine-Ruhr
The Emscher-Lippe region is part of HyPerformer Rhine-Ruhr. The award and the associated funding from the federal and state governments for the expansion of hydrogen filling stations and the construction of electrolysers mark a milestone in the implementation of the hydrogen roadmap. Babette Nieder, together with representatives of h2-netzwerk-ruhr e.V. and the Anwenderzentrum h2herten, will provide information about the hydrogen region Emscher-Lippe and the next steps as part of the “Hydrogen Week” by H2 Mobility Deutschland. The initiative aims to communicate the topic of hydrogen in a credible and vivid way. As the finale of this nationwide series of events, e:Motion forms an informative and exciting highlight.
