H2 Summer Event in Herten receives great interest

The organizers were surprised by this demand: The first Summer Event of the H2EL Hydrogen Coordination, h2-netzwerk-ruhr, the City of Herten, Chemsite e.V. and HTVG mbH in Herten on August 28, 2025 recorded eighty participants.

Following the network’s successful New Year’s receptions, network managing director Dr. Désirée Schulte had the idea of establishing further networking formats. The idea was well received by the H2EL Hydrogen Coordination. The Summer Event at the H2 User Center Herten was a first trial balloon – and a very successful one.

After greetings from the hosts and a welcome address by District Director Dominik Schad, there were five short pitches presenting individual projects. Each pitch was only sixty seconds long, and the presenters adhered to this. This left enough time for interesting discussions over currywurst and Italian dips. Among those participating were Jens Geier MEP, who works on hydrogen in the European Parliament, Dr. Thomas Kattenstein, Chairman of h2-netzwerk-ruhr and head of the hydrogen department at DMT energy engineers, a subsidiary of TÜV Nord, and Thomas Basten, Head of Site Development at Chemiepark Marl.

Dr. Schulte’s conclusion: “The concept was a complete success. We will continue to work on intensifying communication with and among our members.”
