Hydrogen ramp-up between ambition and reality
Advisory Board meeting of h2-netzwerk-ruhr
At the Advisory Board meeting of h2-netzwerk-ruhr on September 17, 2025 at Fraunhofer UMSICHT in Oberhausen, the focus was on a question that could hardly be more topical: “Hydrogen ramp-up between ambition and reality – what is politics doing?”
With contributions from Jens Geier (MEP), Dr. Bernd Pitschak (DWV) and Tilman Wilhelm (DVGW), one thing became clear: the path to a hydrogen economy is challenging and requires, above all, clear framework conditions, reliability and long-term strategies.
In addition to the keynote presentations, constructive, open discussions were held, in which different perspectives from politics, industry and science met and sharpened the focus on what is now necessary to pick up speed.
For h2-netzwerk, the meeting was a valuable opportunity to put its political position paper (developed in a working group within the network under the lead of Brian Mohr, LL.M. and Peter Brautmeier) up for discussion.
The subsequent exchange at the get-together was particularly pleasing. These are the opportunities that strengthen collaboration within the network and build trust – a foundation we urgently need to shape the energy transition together.
