Dortmund Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Lünen Economic Development Agency plan cooperation with h2-netzwerk-ruhr
In-person visits had not yet been cancelled due to Corona when Eric Swehla and Dr. Ulrich Dornau from Wirtschaftsförderungszentrum Lünen GmbH (WZL) paid a visit to h2-netzwerk-ruhr.
On March 10, 2020, the two, accompanied by management consultant Fritz Ruddak and IHK regional representative Klaus Brenscheidt, met with Volker Lindner, chairman of h2-netzwerk-ruhr, to explore a possible collaboration. The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Roland Giller, city council member of Lünen.
The Dortmund Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Unna district, to which the city of Lünen belongs, see great potential for the use of hydrogen in logistics. “Kamen interchange is passed by over 100,000 trucks daily in all directions. This location sits like a spider in its web,” Klaus Brenscheidt described the geographical advantage for establishing an extensive value chain around the use of hydrogen in trucks for short and medium distances.
The Lünen Economic Development Agency also wants to leverage this advantage and is already working on concrete projects. “We have very interesting companies in Lünen for which hydrogen use could play a central role from a climate protection perspective,” explained WZL Managing Director Eric Swehla.
Volker Lindner presented the network, with its now 46 members, and explained the association’s goals and working methods. He saw good starting points for cooperation but also emphasized that the association’s limited resources are used for its members. The WZL Managing Director’s response was prompt: “Can you give me a membership application?” The continuation of the cooperation was firmly agreed upon.
