Frank Mielke aims to introduce Hattingen to the topic of hydrogen
Treasurer of the City of Hattingen visits h2-netzwerk-ruhr with a small delegation
The Treasurer of the City of Hattingen, Frank Mielke, visited h2-netzwerk-ruhr e.V. in Herten on June 19, 2020, with a small delegation of council members and representatives of the SPD Hattingen. They were received by Chairman Volker Lindner and Peter Brautmeier, staff member for communications and public relations.
Frank Mielke did not miss the opportunity to personally experience the advantages of H2 mobility with the Toyota Mirai, a project in which the h2-netzwerk is involved. He was impressed by the driving experience.

However, the actual reason for the visit was different: Mielke wants to lead the City of Hattingen’s economic development policy into new fields and sees great potential in the area of hydrogen and innovative technologies. Volker Lindner agreed: “H2 technology does not only consist of building fuel cells and electrolyzers. There are numerous requirements in the periphery that can also be met by innovative medium-sized companies.” As examples, Lindner mentioned high-pressure storage, compression, power electronics, and more. “There are competencies for this in many places throughout the Ruhr area, and h2-netzwerk-ruhr sees one of its tasks as bringing these together,” Lindner continued. He offered to advise Frank Mielke and his delegation on their further activities—on the condition that the City of Hattingen becomes a member of the network.
A tour of the hydrogen refueling station and the wind power electrolysis at the H2 User Center rounded off the visit.
