h2-netzwerk-ruhr Advisory Board: Core network – good news and bad news
Dr. Jürgen Leder of Thyssengas opened his expert presentation at the Advisory Board meeting on September 23, 2024 with the words: “I have good news and bad news. The good news is: The hydrogen core network is coming. The bad news is: It will remain empty for now; there is still no green hydrogen.” Leder concluded: “We urgently need more investment in the production of green hydrogen.”

Thyssengas will contribute 1,200 kilometres to the expansion of the core network. In doing so, the company is cooperating with other partners, e.g. the network member OGE.
While Thyssengas is responsible for the transmission sector, Gelsenwasser AG is preparing to expand the hydrogen distribution network. Manuel Behlke informed the Advisory Board members about his company’s activities in this area. According to him, Gelsenwasser is convinced that hydrogen can make an important contribution to the future heat supply. The aim is to make the future heat supply secure, climate-neutral and affordable.
The Advisory Board meeting ended with the usual get-together, which the Advisory Board and network members are happy to use for professional exchange.
