“Hydrogen Practical Day” well received
180 students visited the application center
For the third time, h2-netzwerk ruhr, WiN Emscher-Lippe GmbH, and the City of Herten organized the “Hydrogen Practical Day.” On June 19, 2024, six groups from secondary schools, the Berufskolleg Ostvest, and the Joblinge from Essen visited the H2Herten Application Center. At a total of nine stations, they learned about hydrogen production, application possibilities, and career opportunities in the field of H2 technology.
For Dr. Désirée Schulte, Managing Director of h2-netzwerk-ruhr, such events are important. “We need knowledge transfer and, in particular, the interest of young people in new technologies. It was very refreshing to see the enthusiasm with which the young people engaged with the topic.”
The organizers were particularly lucky with the weather: while it rained repeatedly the day before and the day after the event, the Practical Day was spared. Dr. Babette Nieder, Managing Director of WiN Emscher-Lippe, was relieved: “More than half of the information sessions take place outdoors. In bad weather, we would not have been able to hold the event in this format.”
In the outdoor area, Gelsenwasser, among others, had set up an information stand where every participant received a practical drinking bottle—filled with Gelsenwasser—as a gift.
And, of course, the refueling demonstrations of fuel cell trucks and passenger cars also took place outdoors.
For the organizers, one thing is certain: This event will take place again next year.
