“Not competition, but synergy”

HyMR and h2-netzwerk-ruhr e.V. strengthen their cooperation

During a visit to h2-netzwerk-ruhr, Dr. Norbert Weritz from the Climate and Environmental Protection Unit of the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) explained the objectives and working methods of the hydrogen coordination office Hydrogen Metropole Ruhr – HyMR for short. The project office was established at the end of 2021 by resolution of the RVR’s association assembly and is intended to make the region’s diverse hydrogen activities visible and to provide coordinating support for the implementation of the market ramp-up of the hydrogen economy. Dr. Weritz was accompanied by Tim Brömmling, who supports the HyMR team as a project manager.
The group was complemented by the hydrogen coordinator for the Emscher-Lippe region, Dr. Babette Nieder.

h2-netzwerk-ruhr was represented by its Chairman Dr. Thomas Kattenstein, Managing Director Dr. Désirée Schulte, and PR Manager Peter Brautmeier.
Dr. Schulte was able to point to the steadily increasing membership numbers of h2-netzwerk-ruhr, which have not declined as a result of the establishment of other hydrogen networks in the Ruhr region. She attributes this to the network’s broad positioning, which ranges from plant engineering companies to legal advisory firms and offers members a wide range of opportunities for know-how exchange.

For Dr. Kattenstein and Dr. Weritz, it is clear that HyMR’s work does not represent any competition for the work of h2-netzwerk-ruhr. Instead, closer cooperation with regular top-level meetings was agreed. Dr. Thomas Kattenstein in his own words: “We do not see HyMR as a competitor, but are looking forward to the synergy effects that will arise from our cooperation.”
